SAPA launches sliding door using extremely slim profiles

1/7/2021

SAPA is now launching a sleek, high-quality lift-and-slide door that elegantly combines slim profiles with a high level of airtightness and excellent thermal properties. The most important feature of this design is also the least visible: its narrow centre profile. These slim profiles allow a minimalist design approach and let in even more of that all-important daylight.

Minimalist design adapted for the Nordic climate The construction is based on the classic 2160S door, using extra-slim profiles to create 2160S XS. The sliding door is fabricated from insulating aluminium profiles with a frame depth of 160 mm and door sheet thickness of 70 mm. A significant difference from the earlier 2160S is the centre profile, the visible profile that runs down the centre of the door when it is closed. This has been reduced from 92 mm to 36 mm.

The door is designed to withstand Nordic weather conditions. This door has an exceptional air- and watertightness rating of 600 Pa (Class 4 and Class 9A) and achieves a U value of 1.1 with triple glazing. The doors slide easily and are easy to operate. Doors can be supplied in dimensions up to 3,200 x 2,600 mm, making them ideal for the housing market.

Simple and versatile production The new sliding door is an extension of the 2160S system and only requires a few articles to be added to the existing articles in the system. This provides more possibilities using fewer profiles and gives fabricators a wider range of products. It also enables more efficient and quality-assured production, since the same fabrication processes can be used to produce a variety of products.

Sustainable materials The sliding door is constructed from Hydro CIRCAL aluminium. This is a low-carbon aluminium with a minimum of 75% recycled, post-consumer aluminium scrap. Using recycled aluminium, we drastically reduce energy use in the production phase whilst still offering highquality aluminium. While choosing CIRCAL we can always guarantee a CO2 footprint below 2.3 kg CO2 per 1 kg aluminium produced.
